Where Opa! comes from
Chef Konstantinos was born in Greece, and his culinary career began in 1971. He and his wife, Katarina, opened Opa! Mezze Grill in Ashburn in 2012.
Katarina had worked as a server for Ionel for about fifteen years, and the two families are longtime friends.
Ionel, who is half Greek and half Romanian, took over in 2020. He kept the Greek classics and expanded the menu with Balkan dishes, Mititei among them. We are family owned and run, and the classics are still made from scratch, in generous portions for sharing.
